In order to keep our attendees as healthy and safe as possible, our event will have the following policies in place:
Attendees must be fully vaccinated prior to attending the convention, no exceptions
Proof of your full vaccination (showing all required doses, and the final dose received on or before March 3rd, 2022) will need to be submitted prior to receiving your badge – see our FAQ at the bottom on what proof is accepted. No exceptions will be made.
Accepted vaccines per the Government of Canada are:
- Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty, tozinameran, BNT162b2)
- Moderna (mRNA-1273)
- AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD (ChAdOx1-S, Vaxzevria, AZD1222)
- Janssen/Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
Masks are required in all public spaces including while in fursuit, no exception
Regardless of government mandates at the time of the event, masks will be required in the convention space.
No exceptions will be made.
Capacity limits will be enforced
We will be making adjustments to convention areas to follow social distancing guidelines. This may include allowing fewer people in event rooms, washroom facilities, elevators, and lounge areas.
Fursuit lounges will be available
The exact setup (i.e. fans, cooling stations) will be determined closer to the event date, based on advice from government health units. Face masks must still be worn in the lounge except when actively drinking water.
Attendees with COVID-19 symptoms or positive test results at the convention
must contact us
If you develop COVID symptoms at the convention, have a positive COVID test result, or you are informed that you have come into contact with someone diagnosed with COVID, you must contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-855-46FURRY (1-855-463-8779).
Please quarantine in your hotel room, or if you do not have a room at the hotel, return to your home with as little contact with others as possible, or follow your quarantine plan. All roommates and other close contacts in attendance with you must also quarantine.
How to prepare for 2022
In many countries, vaccinations are becoming widely available to the public. We are requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated before attending the convention. The latest you should be fully vaccinated by is March 3rd, 2022.
Practice wearing a mask
Practice properly wearing over your mouth and nose and breathing with a mask on, as you will be required to wear a mask when in public spaces of the event. Fursuiters should practice wearing a mask under their head.
Ensure that your mask is either medical grade or meets Ontario’s standards for non-medical masks.
Bring extra sanitation supplies
While Furnal Equinox and the Westin Harbour Castle will provide public sanitation supplies (such as hand sanitizer), we encourage you to bring your own for personal use.
Practice socially distant etiquette
While furries love to gather up close, we need to maintain a safe distance of at least 2 meters apart when socializing, and always ask for consent before any close contact or reduced distance.
