Artists Alley Information Package

The Artists Alley is a dedicated space for starter and beginner artists to get their foot in the door for conventions at no extra cost! This is a great space for small makers to take commissions, display their art and wares, or gain a wider audience!

Interested artists will be expected to fill out a short application form before the convention. All applicants will be given a chance at a slot throughout the weekend. Artists participating in Artists Alley must abide by all convention and dealer’s den rules. If anything is unclear, FE staff will ALWAYS have final say.

General Rules

  • Including the additional rules below, artists are otherwise expected to respect the rules as stated in the Dealer’s Information Package available on the Furnal Equinox website.
  • Artist Alley scheduling placements are chosen at random to give an extra chance for artists to vend, whether they are a newer dealer trying to get into vending, have less of a time commitment, or otherwise.
  • The Artist Alley is not a substitute for Dealer’s Den. Although the rules of Dealers Den must also be followed, there are specific restrictions that will be specified below.
  • As artists are chosen at random, please respect this process. Do not try to sneak onto a table and try not to undermine other vendors by stealing a slot.
  • Artists are not allowed to play music or have flashing lights that may be disturbing to your fellow artists.
  • AI generated content, such as images or writing, is strictly prohibited.
  • Electronics such as tablets, phones and laptops are permitted. Power and Wi-Fi will NOT be provided, so plan accordingly.
  • Artists are expected to follow display guidelines as defined below.

Costs

The table comes at no extra cost to the artist; however, they must have a convention badge for the day to participate.

Artists will be allotted 3 feet of table space and one chair. All belongings are to remain on and under the table within your dedicated space. Avoid placing items around and behind you due to space constraints. Access to power will not be available.

What Can You Sell?

  • Participants of the Artist Alley must be the original creating artist. Proxies and selling artwork/items for someone else will not be permitted in this space.
  • Small merch items are accepted, (stickers, buttons, prints, handmade items)

  • Low MOQ manufactured items are allowed but should be limited (keychains, lanyards)

    •  Fursuit parts or premades are allowed but they must fit within your designated table space.
    • You may bring your own tablecloth and decorate your space.
    •  Do not expand your display area through additional equipment such as but not limited to; clothes rack, folding table, chairs, etc.

      Helpers

      • Artists Alley vendors are not allowed an at-table assistant throughout the duration of their time vending. Helpers may aid with setup of the artist’s allocated space. They can also assist in the case of food runs, bathroom replacements, etc.
      • Helpers must be registered for the event for at least the day.
      • Helpers may not stand, sit, and “hang out” behind or in front of the table with you. Space is limited and we want to avoid crowding.
      • Helpers may not stay in the Den during the Dealers Lunch Hour.

      Timeslots

Artists will be granted up to three time slots throughout the weekend. They will be selected and placed randomly from the list of approved artists. Selection and slots are dependent on the number of total applicants.

An artist may request a specific time slot but is not guaranteed to receive it.

      Artist Rotation

Artists will be rotated/changed each day. 10 minutes before closing for the day, artists will be expected to start packing up and leave the Dealers Den.

Artists are not allowed to remain in the Den before and after hours.

Artists and their belongings may NOT remain in the den overnight. Artists are responsible to pick up after themselves and leave the table clear after their timeslot is over.

      Set Up

Artists will NOT have access to the dealers’ set up and tear down times, therefore will be expected to set up when the Den’s doors open to the public that day.

Artist Alley vendors will have until one hour after den opening before they are considered a no-show. (Friday until 1PM, Saturday until 11AM, Sunday until 11AM)

      Check In

Artists will be expected to check in and out at the Dealers Information table upon their arrival to announce their slot as claimed. Artists are expected to arrive by the times listed below and must leave, be torn down and have left the den by closing that day. If there has been no communication to staff and the allotted time has passed, staff will consider the space abandoned and will be made available to waitlisted artists.

Artists enter the den as per their registration levels, through the entrance and cannot bypass the lines.

      During Your Time Slot

Artists are expected to remain at the table for the entirety of their time slot if they wish to keep it. 15-minute breaks are permitted for bathroom/food/personal purposes.

Artists will be allowed to remain in the den during the Dealers’ Lunch hour.

The Dealers team will be offering a paid, opt-in buffet on Saturday during the lunch break. Price and opt-in information will be shared with acceptance emails.

If circumstances cause artists to be delayed or having to forfeit their table, please come to the Dealers Information table, or email dealers@furnalequinox.com as soon as possible so the situation can be addressed accordingly. Life happens, and we are willing to come to a solution that benefits everyone.

      No Show and At-Con Waitlist

Artist Alley vendors have until one hour after den opening before they are considered a no-show. (Friday until 1PM, Saturday until 11AM, Sunday until 11AM)

Vacant/no shows spots will be given at a ‘first-come-first serve’ basis. Artists who are interested in claiming an empty spot will have to report to the Dealers Information table at the con store to sign onto a waiting list. Each day this list will be refreshed. Signups from the previous days will not be carried over.

If personal belongings are found at the table after hours, they will be turned over to the lost and found at Con Ops.

We wish every participant a very profitable time and hope that everyone’s experience at the convention is a positive one!

      Rule Violations

Any participant that violates our rules and code of conduct (found on the Furnal Equinox  website), as determined by the Dealers Den staff, will be subject to consequences, up to and including removal and ban from the Artist Alley and Dealers Den. Anyone being intentionally disruptive will be removed from the room and possibly ejected from the convention.

Final decisions related to the Artist Alley fall to Furnal Equinox staff.
