Shane presents Lily Chan of the Mississauga Humane Society with $4,000 from FE 2011's Charity Auction.

Furnal Equinox's designated charity is the Mississauga Humane Society (MHS). Founded in 1999, the Mississauga Humane Society strives to find "Forever Homes" for cats and dogs regardless of their background, age, health or previous behavioural issues.

The MHS relies completely on funding from public donations, adoption fees and fundraising. All of the funds raised go towards veterinary bills, food and other supplies for the animals. None goes to administrative costs, as they do not have a shelter facility or any paid staff — they conduct their activities through a network of volunteers and foster homes. As a result of their efforts, the MHS has rescued over 4,500 homeless animals.

At Furnal Equinox, we believe part of our mandate is to give back to our feral furry friends. Our attendees have raised almost $25,000 for the MHS since 2010, and those donations have really made a difference.

Furnal Equinox has been regularly featured in the MHS' "Pet Chat" newsletter. Read the April 2013 newsletter, and find out more about their success stories.

But we need your help and your generosity to help them out each year. Our big fundraiser is our Charity Auction at the convention. If you have any items that you'd like to sell at the auction, please contact us at Art and fursuit commissions, movies, comics, or any other items are all welcome. And if you have any other ideas for fundraisers before or at the con, please let us know!
